Germany preferred fast starships able to harass and capture lightly and unescorted ships carrying raw materials from the moon, and thus featured ships with more engines and rapid-fire guns than missiles and armor, with guns proving less damaging to potential cargo. Britain could not quite let go of battleship philosophy, and thus shares more similarities with Japan than with America, although they do have a favorable carrier force as well. Russia favored stealthy ships and long-ranged missiles, hoping to minimize the risk to their fleets while maximizing risk to enemy fleets, especially those traveling lightly. The Americans favored carriers and disposable missiles with powerful warheads, and fought quality with quantity, even as the price of missiles steadily increased over railgun shells and energy weapons. Japan favored the mighty capital-class battleships, and theirs were veritable mobile fortresses that proved capable of rendering entire sections of space as a no-fly zone. What we know as WWII was known as the 1st Great Space War, and it was a fight over lunar resources. It took the combined might of the Allied powers to fight back and reverse-engineer enough of the technologies that by 1940, the space race was in full swing. In an alternate reality, Germany did succeed with their black projects, to the point that they managed to reverse-engineer captured alien technology to give them an advantage over the rest of the world in WWI. But I see it as adding mechanics, but i can see how it can be seen as changing them as well. Im gonna ignore the sarcasm and condescending tone and assume you were typing this when i posted the post right before yours. WG also seems to want to focus on the first half of a century not unlike the one we just had, and I don't remember there being many space battles in that period. If WG wants to make a space game to compete with Dreadnought, they can, but it'll take years with a dedicated team to do so, since spaceships have about as much in common with WWII ships as WWII ships had with WWII tanks. Nothing wrong with that, but this is World of Boats. Honestly, it sounds like you want to play Dreadnought. You also seem to underestimate how much effort 'redo the ships' entails. ![]() Then there's the fact that there's no reasons shells would arc in space, that's two drastically changed core mechanics. Going from a 2-D playing surface to 3-D movement is a drastic change (and one of several reasons cited for no submarines). Each match will challenge captain's skills in dealing with multiple enemies and situations, pushing them to adapt to an ever-changing battlefield.īattling the Invaders will net players "Stellar Chips," which can be used to unlock all kinds of permanent space skins in World Of Warships: Legends for many different ships, as well as getting the aforementioned event commanders for your regular seagoing fleet! There are a bunch of Stellar Clash themed skins and items awaiting, but also the rare premium destroyer Yukikaze for intrepid captains who earn enough Chips to command her.I like how in the same breath, you say they wouldn't have to change core mechanics, and then describe a core mechanic that would have to change. There are plenty of boosts available to grab throughout the map to help improve your ship as well, ranging from heals to better reload time. As a solo captain, players will have to become the last ship standing, or take control of the capture circle to win. Their fully upgraded skills and abilities will be vital to winning in Stellar Clash, captains should pick their skills carefully! Each battle will consist of nine players plus a swarm of Invaders vying for control of the system. ![]() Three commanders are lined up to helm these spaceships: John Luke Pickup for the Alldestroyer, Shelly Beapley for the Galaxy, and Space Fishy for the Rover. Do you have what it takes to command your battleships in zero gravity? Courtesy of Wargaming. You can read more info about the event here along with the trailer, as it will be running all the way until April 12th. ![]() Each with their own commanders at the helm. The ships in question are futuristic versions of the mighty battleship Alldestroyer, multi-purpose cruiser Galaxy, and the high-speed destroyer Rover. Wargaming announced a new event happening in World Of Warships: Legends as you'll be commanding your ships… in space! The developers have a new mode called Stellar Clash that launched today, which will take your skills and throw them into space, sort of, as you battle with futuristic designs on a grid floating in space, fighting against enemies with three spaceships which you will command to defend this part of the galaxy.
